Castellana Caves (Grotte di Castellana)
The caves that give the town its name are a few kilometres from the B&B and are Puglia's top tourist attraction.
What they are
The Castellana Caves were formed over roughly 90 million years, when the area was still a seabed. They were discovered in 1938 and lie about 60 metres underground. Since opening to the public they have attracted millions of visitors.
Before you go
The visit is guided, and routes, opening times and prices change during the year. Always check the official website and book ahead in busy periods.
